Carbohydrates - Lindsy Whitehead

Carbohydrates

  • Carbohydrates are the sugars, starches and fibers found in fruits, grains, vegetables and milk products.
  • Provides short term energy
  • Structure and support
  • Subunit: Sugars
  • Examples: Glucose, Starch, Cellulose, and Glycogen

Summary:
Carbohydrates are the main source of fuel for your body, making them an important part of your everyday diet.

I learned that between 45 and 65 percent of your daily calories need to come from carbohydrates to provide enough energy to support everyday functions.
I also learned that not all carbohydrates provide energy, for example, fiber is a complex type of carbohydrate that you need in your diet everyday but instead of breaking down it helps regulate you.
