Codominance
Codominance is a type of non-Mendelian genetics that implies that there is no trait that is recessive. Both of the traits are equally dominant and will show.
An example could be, a black chicken mixed with a white chicken, would result in a checkered chicken. The chicken is neither all black, nor all white. But it shows both the black and the white because both of the traits are dominant.

A visual example of a brown cow mixing with a white cow, to create a brown and white cow would look like the picture below.

Personally, I liked this objective in the unit. I thought it was interesting to learn about how genetics can basically influence your whole life, and it was cool to learn about the different kinds of genetics.
This is a problem I still deal with to this day, I sometimes get confuse with incomplete dominance. This will help me for the future exam. Good job explaining your criteria.
ReplyDeleteI like how you included the picture of the cows in order to further explain codominance. I feel like this helped differentiate incomplete and codominance.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I felt like I needed pictures to really help to explain the whole thing.
