Cell Wall

Main Ideas:
-Only found in plant cells
-Prevents water loss
-Provides structure
-Composed of cellulose (a structural carbohydrate)

Cell wall can be found in plants, bacteria, fungi, and algae. It was discovered by Robert Hooke while observing a thin section of cork. The cell wall gives the plant cell a rigid box-like shape. The plasma membrane, which can also be found in animal cells, takes on the shape of the cell wall. The cell wall remains long after the cell dies.  It aids in diffusion of gases in and out of the cell also helps the cell develop turgor pressure to maintain the pressure of the cell contents.

Reflection:
I learned about the cell wall in middle school, so I was already familiar with the subject. Learning about the plant cell is an easy subject for me. I like learning about this objective because its easy and I think it's cool to learn about what the cell does and what it has in common with animal cells.
