-Cell division
-Creates 2 diploid cells
-IPMAT
-Occurs only in eukaryotic cells
-New cells are identical

Mitosis is a type of cell division in which two daughter cells are created with the same number of chromosomes.
Interphase- G1 S G2 (G=Gap). In this phase the original cell grows larger and replicates DNA
Prophase-Spindle fiber begin to form on opposites sides on the cell
Metaphase- The chromatids line up in the middle of the cell and the newly formed spindle fibers attach to them.
Anaphase- The chromatids are pulled apart by the centrioles
Telophase- New nucleus are formed and the dividing of cells in accomplished.

Great picture example for mitosis. IPMATC Is a great way for remembering the stages in order. The cells are always identical.
ReplyDeleteThis helped me understand the stages better and simpler, thank you
